Start your hour with Jesus...by bringing to mind first who you are in the presence of...Jesus! At the mention of His Name we are told every knee shall bend, every head shall bow on earth and in Heaven. Because we are sinners, we need to feel gratitude that Jesus still loves us. He wants us to come to him, he wants us to depend on His Saving Power, he wants us to reach out and ask for forgiveness, to believe we can have it, and seek to find fellowship with Him. Kneel before Jesus, bow your head, open your heart. Bless yourself before you pray by making the sign of the Cross, with the fingers of your right hand touch your forehead and say "In the Name of the Father,",then touch your heart "and of the Son," then touch your left and right shoulders, "and of the Holy Spirit . Amen" There is Blessed Water at the entrance of each Catholic Church or Adoration Chapel. You are to wet your fingertips with this Holy Water and make the Sign of the Cross as described previously, as a symbol of Spiritual Cleansing & asking of God's blessing. The prayer that can be said at this time is "By this Holy Water and By Thy Precious Blood. Cleanse me of my sins, Oh Lord. Amen" Doubtless, you have come to be with Jesus with a prayer in your heart. Share this intention with the Lord. You will see in the Chapel an altar, upon which is placed a Monstrance...it is the golden & sometimes bejeweled "holder" of the Holy Eucharist (communion bread). All of your attention and worship should be focused toward the "Presence of Jesus" displayed who is waiting there for you. You have come to this prayertime because you believe in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament of Communion. Acknowledge His Presence with Love and reverence. It is customary to pray in silence when you are in an Adoration Chapel. The prayer should come from deep within your heart and soul. And this is where Jesus wishes to be, inside of you, treasured in your heart & soul.
The Holy Spirit is our best friend to help us pray as we should, so invite him to be there with you....
Keep acknowledging how much you trust in Jesus.....
Express your sorrow for any of your shortcomings and willful acts of sin....trusting in Jesus' forgiveness.
Feel the forgiveness ....and prepare to be close with Jesus.
Express the desire you feel to have union with Jesus...for Catholic believers, this is by recieving the Eucharist at Mass. If you are a non-Catholic Christian...why not ask Jesus to have spiritual communion with you anyway....
Now that you have drawn so near to the Savior, and have invited Him into your heart, tell Him how sorry you are for all those who have hurt Him,and rejected Him. You might say something like this.....
I now speak to Your most loving Heart with three intentions: to thank You for the great gift of Yourself; to atone for all the insults which Your enemies heap upon You in this Sacrament; and to adore You wherever You are Present in the Eucharist and are dishonored or forgotten.
My Jesus, I love You with my whole heart. I apologise for my ingratitude to Your infinite goodness. I now resolve, with the help of Your grace, never again to offend You. And as sinful as I am, I consecrate to You, my whole self, my will, my affections, my desires, and all that I have. From now on, do whatever you will to me and mine, as You please. I ask only Your love, a happy death, and the grace to always do You holy will.
I interceed for the souls in purgatory before you, especially those who most loved the Blessed Sacrament and Your most holy Mother. I also interceed for all poor sinners. Lastly, my dear Savior, I unite all my desires with the desires of Your most loving Heart. Thus united, I present them to Your Eternal Father, and beg Him in Thy Name and for love of You, to hear and answer them. Amen
As Christians we are asked to have faith....
As believers we are to have hope.....
We are commanded to love.......
We are to be charitable....
O Jesus, Supreme Master of all hearts, I love You, I adore You, I praise You, I thank You, because I am now all Your own. Rule over me, and transform my soul into the likeness of Yourself, so that it may bless and glorify You forever in the abode of the Saints. Amen
Many indeed have never known You; many, too, despising Your precepts, have rejected You. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Your Sacred Heart. Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken You, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned You. Grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.
Be King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.
Grant, O Lord, to Your Church, assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound, from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to It be glory and honor forever. Amen
The more Your mysteries are blasphemed, the more firmly we shall believe them, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!
The more impiety endeavors to extinguish our hopes of immortality, the more we shall trust in Your Heart, sole hope of mankind!
The more hearts resist Your Divine attractions, the more we shall love You, O infinitely amiable Heart of Jesus!
The more unbelief attacks Your Divinity, the more humbly and profoundly we shall adore It, O Divine Heart of Jesus!
The more Your holy laws are transgressed and ignored, the more we shall delight to observe them, O most holy Heart of Jesus!
The more Your Sacraments are despised and abandoned, the more frequently we shall receive them with love and reverence, O most liberal Heart of Jesus!
The more the imitation of Your virtues is neglected and forgotten, the more we shall endeavor to practice them, O Heart, model of every virtue!
The more the devil labors to destroy souls, the more we shall be inflamed with desire to save them, O Heart of Jesus, zealous Lover of souls!
The more sin and impurity destroy the image of God in man, the more we shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Spirit, O Heart of Jeusu!
The more Your Church is despised, the more we shall endeavor to be her faithful children, O Sweet Heart of Jesus!
The more Your Vicar on earth is persecuted, the more we will honor him as the infallible head of Your Holy Church, show our fidelity and pray for him, O kingly Heart of Jesus!
O Sacred Heart, through Your powerful grace, may we become Your apostles in the midst of a corrupted world, and be Your crown in the kingdom of heaven. Amen
Before you leave the presence of Jesus...recall his death, the price he paid for you...so that you would someday be able to have eternal life. As Jesus hung on his cross, his Mother stood with his apostle John, and other followers. But it was her heart that was so broken...it was into her arms Jesus' dead body was recieved after he was taken from that cross. And how could we not beleive that that loving embrace has ever ended? It has not....Mother & Son, embrace for all eternity, loving each other and loving us.
O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many Tabernacles, without visitor or worshipper I offer You my poor heart. May its every throb be an act of love for You. You are always watching beneath the Sacramental Veils; in Your Love You never sleep and You are never weary of Your vigil for sinners. O lonely Jesus, may the flame of my heart burn and beam always in company with You.
Our beloved Savior was so generous to not leave us abandoned when He returned to His heavenly home...he left us this wonderful "gift" of his presence in a way that we could see it and possess it...and be in communion with him. Avail yourself of this rewarding experience. Go spend time in the company of your Savior...you will not come away empty.
